Free music

Belinda is looking for a new mobile phone which has decent music playing capabilities.
...

Victoria: Nokia's CWM comes with a year of free music downloads.

Belinda: Not exactly free. I heard they build the cost of the music fees into the cost of the handset.

Victoria: Most young people expect music to be free. Except in Japan.

Belinda: Japanese will pay for music downloads?

Victoria: I asked a group of 15 Japanese students, "Do you pay for music or download it for free?" And all of them said, "I pay," "I pay," "I pay."

Belinda: They must be rich.

Victoria: And then, after class, I'm chatting with one of them and she tells me privately, "None of us actually pay for music. They all just told you they did. They download for free, same as people in other countries."

Belinda: Honne and tatemae!

Beam it to me

Yoshiko and Megumi exchange telephone numbers first day in class after sudoku.

...

Yoshiko: What’s your phone number?

Megumi: I’ll call you and then you’ll know.

Yoshiko: But you’d have to enter my number. It’s just quicker if I beam you mine and you beam me yours.

Megumi: Okay. Beam me, now, go.

Storytelling by mobile phone?

As he was going up the Damascus elevator, Benoit has a revelation.
...

Benoit (talking to himself, looking up at the advertisement): Nokia N82: Storytelling rediscovered. Well, well.
Man wearing Dubai hat: Excuse me.
Benoit: Sorry.
Man wearing Dubai hat: Shukran.
Benoit (continuing to voiceover himself): Story telling was an oral tradition once. People told stories. Then we had drama, then we had movies, now we have telephones telling a story. Who do they tell the story to? Other telephones? Will humans soon be out of the loop?

Nabil: See I went to the well and there was all these bees buzzing around, thousands, and I dint wanna get stinged...

Jalil: Stung.

Nabil: Stung. And I have to get the water before I go to school, right, so I put my mobile next the well and they all took off.

Jalil: And you know where they went?

Nabil: Went over the hill.

Jalil: They didn’t go far. They all settled on Rahman’s bicycle seat.

Nabil: Come on.

Jalil: A thousand bees on a bicycle built for one. Rahman, he so wild. You better take your mobile over to Rahman.
