Single flower focus (1)

Pictures of fields of flowers can be shown as a sea of color. But only color can seem a little flat. There are a couple of ways to approach this.

One way involves singling out one particular bloom. It may be one which is a different size, or shape, or color from the rest.

In this case, one particular poppy was focused on, from a low elevation.

Because the camera had only a simple fixed lens, only a large depth of field was possible. All poppies in the field are therefore in focus.

A lens with a small depth of field, focusing on only one poppy, and blurring the others in the background, might have been better.

But carrying a simple camera, even a camera phone, means at least catching a shot instead of missing it.
